About

Some time in the early 1990s, an aspiring game designer by the name of Steve came up with the idea of a card game that would be comprised of martial arts moves to simulate full contact fighting. The Forbidden Pit was born...

Pit in it's original form was unique but simple - hand drawn figures on cut-out cards - a few basic punches and kicks, a few blocks. But it was already great fun so over the years it grew in popularity and scope.

By 2000 fans of the game were holding regular local Tournaments, with the Pit Cup often contested by 30 players or more, and the players were demanding that the game be published.

The first printing of The Forbidden Pit Starter Deck in 2004 met some success but was hampered by the fact that the illustrator responsible for the new deck layout had kinda disappeared, making the creation of any new cards difficult. This was a problem since the repertoire of techniques included in Pit had rapidly grown to include chokes, submission holds, broken bones, lethal moves and more - none of which could be properly integrated into the game.

However a small but loyal core fan base of rabid Pit supporters have kept the game alive against all odds. By early 2009, The original Forbidden Pit deck had swelled to well over 280 cards, comprised of over 100 discrete fighting moves and it was well past time for a facelift.

Now with brand new artwork by Slaor, The Forbidden Pit has been honed into a complete and realistic fighting game of brutal combinations and miracle escapes, packed with moves that will make you laugh and cringe while you bleed...
